Grade 310, combining excellent heat properties with good ductility and weld ability, is intended for top temperature service. It resists oxidation in continuous service at temperatures up to 1150 °C provided reducing sulfur gases aren’t present. It’s also used for intermittent service at temperatures up to 1040 °C.

Grade 310S stainless steel is superior to 304 or 309 stainless steel in most environments, because it’s high nickel and chromium content. It’s high corrosion resistance and strength in temperatures up to 1149 °C (2100 °F). SS 310S is used in environments that have moist corrodents during a temperature less than its highest temperature range.
