Carbon Steel is divided into 3 major classes that are Low CS, Medium CS, and High CS.

Low CS/ Mild CS – This CS has a carbon of 0.40%-0.30%. It’s covering greater diversity of shapes that’s from a flat sheet to the structural beam. However, supported the needed properties, other alloys are increased. Likewise, in DQ the carbon is kept lesser and aluminum is included and structural steel level of carbon is bigger and manganese is raised.

Medium CS – It’s having the carbon of 0.31%-0.60% addition to the manganese of .060%-1.65%. It’s stronger than low CS and is harder to make, cut and weld. Medium CS is tempered and hardened through heat treatment.

High CS – It’s called as carbon alloy steel and carbon ranges from 0.61%-1.50%. High CS is harder to bend, cut and weld. Once it’s provided heat treatment properly, it becomes considerably harder and brittler.
